Attention all Program Chairs!
In an effort to streamline meeting set up and eliminate last-minute issues with technology, please email a copy of the guest's presentation to Spencer Niebur prior to the meeting.  Randy will load the presentation on his laptop so the guest speaker doesn't have to worry about technology the day of the meeting.  Guests can bring their own laptop if they insist but we prefer to have the presentations in advance.  Thank you.

Rotary Works Foundation Recap

Rotary East's Rotary Works Foundation representatives Catherine Lavallée-Welch and Tim Schadeberg
gave the club an overview of the mission and good work the RWF does in our community and beyond at our July 17 club meeting.

The Rotary Works Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, encourages Rotarians to enact the Rotary Four Way Test by financially supporting local and international charitable and educational activities.

All nine La Crosse area Rotary clubs support the foundation.  The Rotary Works Foundation Board meets monthly and is made up of Rotarian volunteers who live by our motto, "Service Above Self."

$26,000 is awarded annually to charitable organizations and special consideration is given to projects focusing on youth and/or education in our local community.

Amazon donates 0.5% of the price of your eligible AmazonSmile purchases to the Rotary Works Foundation
This is an easy way to support the RWF!

Big Blue Dragon Boat Festival
Rotary Works Takes 2nd Place!
Big Blue Dragon Boat Festival

Mayo Clinic Health System-Franciscan Healthcare hosted the fifth annual Big Blue Dragon Boat Festival on Friday and Saturday, July 14-15, 2017. Teams engaged in colorful and spirited competition on the Black River along La Crosse’s Copeland Park.

The Big Blue Dragon Boat Festival is a celebration of the human spirit, as we gather in compassionate and enthusiastic support for breast cancer patients, survivors and caregivers.  The event promotes fitness and teamwork, while raising funds to enhance breast cancer diagnosis and treatment.

Congratulations to Teri Wildt and the rest of the Mayo/BBDBR event planning committee for an outstanding event.  And thanks to Kathi Millard for keeping the RWF paddlers in time with her drum.

The Rotary Works Foundation won the silver medal in the Community C Division!

Check for Sheboygan Early Bird Rotary
Thank you, Sheboygan Early Birds!

On Friday, July 21, Sheboygan Early Bird Rotary held their 25th annual Lobsterfest.
Natalie and John Olsen attended the event and presented President Mary Hayward
with a check for $250.00 in appreciation for her club's willingness to help
Rotary East get our Lobsterfest off the ground!

A check for $250 will also be given to the Manitowoc Sunrise, Manitowoc Noon, and Two Rivers Rotary Clubs
for their support as well.  They previously held a successful lobster boil for 10 years and graciously
loaned Rotary East equipment including lobster pots, crackers, cocktail forks, aprons, etc.

Thank you, fellow Rotarians, for modeling "Service Above Self"!
